I'm Caitlin and thank you for visiting my website. I’m a wife, mother of two, holistic health coach, CrossFit coach, and personal trainer. I developed a passion for nutrition, health and fitness after taking care of my mom as she battled with lung cancer for eight long months. I watched this terrible disease gradually take her away from me when I was only twenty three years old. Little did I know that 7 years later I would go through the same thing with my Dad. My Dad, George(all my friends called him that) was diagnosed with Terminal Lung Cancer. This time around I had a 2 year old and was pregnant with my second child. I came away from these experiences determined to learn everything I could about how nutrition and fitness could prevent the risk of cancer as well as other deadly diseases.
As an avid CrossFitter and runner, I’ve found that feeding my body with the right fuel not only helps me feel better, but also allows me to perform at my highest athletic potential. While I strive to eat healthy every single day, I’m not perfect. I allow myself to have moments where I indulge my love for chocolate. Even in those moments I usually try to find a healthier way to prepare a delicious dessert.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than finding and creating healthy paleo/primal recipes that I can prepare for my family. But the way food is marketed and sold these days makes it difficult for the average person to tell what’s really good for them and what’s not so good. Terms like “organic” and “all natural” are used in deceiving ways on most food packaging in every grocery store. On this blog I hope to share with you what I’ve learned about eating healthy and fueling my body. But it’s not just all about eating good food. I'll also share advice on how you can lead a more active and athletic lifestyle and have fun doing it!
